Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Toldya (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address (used for sign-up and login), your username, your display name, and your profile photo.
- Content you create: your takes (predictions), comments, ratings, likes, bookmarks, follows, and your selected favorite teams/players.
- Device and notification data: if you enable push notifications, a device notification token so we can deliver them.
- Analytics data: information about how you use the App — for example, when you open the App, sign in, create a take, rate, like, bookmark, comment, follow, or share — collected through analytics tools, along with app-generated identifiers. This information may be associated with your account.
- Crash and diagnostic data: reports generated when the App encounters an error or crashes, including basic device and operating-system information, so we can find and fix problems.
- Usage and log data: basic technical information generated when you use the App through our service providers.
- Legal acceptance record: when you create your account, we record that you accepted our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, the date you accepted, and which version of those documents was in effect.
We do not knowingly collect payment information, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and operate your account and provide the App's features.
- To display your profile and content to other users and let people find and follow you.
- To send notifications you have enabled (for example, likes, comments, follows, and when a take is ready to rate).
- To keep the App safe: to review reports, enforce our Terms, and address abuse.
- To understand how the App is used, measure feature engagement, and improve the App, and to detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs.
- To respond to support requests and to comply with legal obligations.
3. How Information Is Shared
- With other users: your username, display name, profile photo, and the content you post are visible to other signed-in users. Your email address is not shown to other users.
- With service providers: we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, and App Check) and Apple (Push Notification service and App Attest) to operate, secure, analyze, and improve the App. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We also use Anthropic's Claude API in our own back-end tooling to summarize publicly available broadcast transcripts for tracker accounts (see Section 10); no App user's personal information is sent to it.
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the App.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Edit Profile in the App. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, posts, comments, ratings, likes, bookmarks, follow relationships, and profile image, and we delete your authentication record. Some information may remain in backups or logs for a limited period, and we may retain information where required by law.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures provided through Google Firebase to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act). You can access and update most information in the App, delete your account in the App, or contact us at toldyahottakes@gmail.com to exercise your rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at toldyahottakes@gmail.com and we will delete it.
8. Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a device token to deliver them. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.
9. International Users
We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.
10. Tracker Accounts and Information About Public Figures
Some accounts in the App are "tracker" accounts that we operate, which follow the publicly broadcast predictions of a commentator or show (see Section 6 of our Terms of Use). To run them, we process publicly available material: transcripts published by the show or its network, episode titles and air dates, and the names of the commentators and shows themselves. We use automated tools, including Anthropic's Claude API, to summarize that material into takes, which we review before posting. This involves statements made publicly and in a professional capacity — we do not seek out or collect private information about these individuals, and no App user's personal information is used or sent to those tools for this purpose. If you are, or represent, a commentator or show we track and you want material corrected or removed, contact us at toldyahottakes@gmail.com.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted in the App and are effective when posted.
